FAQs
What information should I include when contacting an embedded engineering firm about a project?
Include a short description of the product, the current status (idea, prototype, field issues), and your key constraints: power, connectivity, environment, size, timeline, and expected production volume. If you already have artifacts, include schematics, BOM, code repo access, logs, and any test results. The full checklist is on Getting Started.
Do I need an NDA before sharing files, and how do I share files securely?
If you are sharing non-public designs, source code, or customer data, request an NDA before sending files. Many teams start with a high-level discussion first, then move to an NDA before exchanging detailed artifacts. For how we handle scope and file exchange during onboarding, see Our Process.
What happens after I submit a project inquiry?
A typical next step is a short fit check to confirm goals, constraints, and whether the work is a match. If it looks like a fit, we usually propose a discovery or first milestone that reduces the biggest unknowns quickly, then move into a milestone plan. The overall workflow is described on Our Process.
Can I get a quick fit check call before committing to a full project?
Yes. A short call can confirm whether you need firmware, hardware, system design, or a stabilization effort, and what the first deliverable should be. If you want to make that call productive, use the prep list on Getting Started.
